Ploutos God of wealth
Ploutos or Plutus was the god of wealth in Greek mythology. He was the son of Iasion and the goddess Demeter, after they lay together in a thrice-ploughed field. He is often conflated with the god of the underworld Plouton, who was also a god of wealth. According to some sources, Ploutos was blinded by Zeus, so that he would distribute wealth to everyone without any discrimination; he was also lame, to show that he always arrived late; but also winged, because he left much faster than he had arrived. He was depicted as an infant boy in the hands of the goddess of peace, Eirene, as peace brings wealth and prosperity.
